Генрік Ібсен (1828–1906) — норвезький письменник, творчість якого набула світового значення. Свої п’єси автор створював у Німеччині й Італії. Персонажі Ібсена, загнані в жорсткі рамки сюжету, завжди були живими. П’єсу «Ляльковий будиночок» Ібсен написав 1879 року про те, що потрібно мати сміливість, щоб подивитися на своє життя з боку й зро- зуміти, ким ти є насправді. Молода і чарівна Нора, щоб врятувати свого чоловіка від смерті, потай від нього бере в кредит велику суму і до того ж підробляє підпис батька, який уже на смертному ложі та який нібито виступає як пору- читель. І хоча вона своєчасно виплачує борг (також потай від чолові- ка), повірений Крогстад, що позичив гроші, розкривши підроблення, починає її шантажувати. Ляльковий будиночок — це солодке «щасливе» подружжя, яке за- стрягло в громадських порядках, — виявився ілюзією. Його крах для героїв болісний, але він дарує головній героїні щось більше — свободу.
