Ілюстрації (дереворити) майстра Іллі з «Патерика Печерського», надрукованого в Києві, в друкарні Лаври 1661 р. Друк книги був заборонений pocійсьkою церквою з 1703 р. до 1760 р. Адміністрація Києво-Печерського монастиря отримала дозвіл на друк видання лише після проходження pocійсьkої цензуpu. Михайло Грушевський в «Історії української літератури» називає «Києво-Печерський патерик» «золотою книгою українського письменного люду». Особливу мистецьку цінність має серія гравюр (дереворитів) з 47 сюжетами, більшість з яких були створені спеціально для першого видання цієї книги майстром Іллею. На трьох гравюрах зображені автори Патерика: єпископ Володимирський і Суздальський Симон, лаврський інок Полікарп і Нестор літописець. «З усієї нашої стародавньої писаної літератури жоден інший твір не зостався в такій постійній пам’яті, ужитку і лектурі — не тільки чернечій, а й світській, — як “Печерський Патерик”.
